bLAKE CHANEY, DDS MD

Background: 

Dr. Chaney is the youngest of three brothers born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was exposed to dentistry at a young age by his dad, an endodontist, and his uncle, an oral surgeon. He believes oral and maxillofacial surgery to be the most exciting specialty in healthcare as it is uniquely the crossroads of dentistry, medicine and surgery. His emphasis in practice is on quality, safety, and comfort. 

Education: 

Dr. Chaney completed a bachelor’s of science in zoology, master’s degree in anatomy, and dental school at The Ohio State University. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and in the top 10% of his dental school class and was inducted into the national dental honors society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

After dental school he moved back to Pittsburgh where he completed his 6-year residency at one of the nation’s premiere oral and maxillofacial surgery programs at the University of Pittsburgh. There he earned his medical degree from a top ranked school, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Licensure: 

Dr. Chaney is a dual degree surgeon licensed in both dentistry and medicine in the state of Colorado.

Specialty Courses: 

Dr. Chaney is especially interested in corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery), dental extractions and implants, pathology of the jaw and its reconstruction, facial trauma, and outpatient deep sedation/general anesthesia. He regularly attends local and national meetings on these topics. He also has co-authored a textbook chapter on management of zygoma fractures in the Atlas of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. 

Dr. Chaney maintains certification in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), basic life support (BLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and advanced trauma life support (ATLS).

Professional Organizations: 

Dr. Chaney is in the process of obtaining board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). He is a member of numerous state and national professional organizations including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AAOMS), Colorado Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (CSOMS), American Dental Association (ADA), American Dental Society of Anesthesiology (ADSA), as well as the American Medical Association (AMA). 

He is affiliated with both UCHealth and Common Spirit hospitals.

Personal: 
Dr. Chaney and Jenn, his wife of 10 years, have three wonderful boys. He is an avid cyclist and enjoys hiking and camping as a family. The Chaney’s have chosen to relocate to Colorado Springs and join CoMax because of the team led by Dr. Facy, and to enjoy all the adventure that Colorado has to offer.
